Welcome to our Community
The Canal Basin Community Forum is a non-political body that represents the interests of residents of the canal basin area, including the Garden Quarter. It was formed in 1997 to enable people to voice their concerns regarding the regeneration of West Chester.
Our aims are: to protect & develop the general welfare, amenities, environmental and communal rights of all residents; to work in partnership with the Local Authority and other agencies who can help us to improve our community; to seek to provide recreational facilities and activities for residents; to encourage a community spirit.
We have campaigned on issues affecting the quality of life of local residents in areas such as: concerns with planning and development; Green spaces; Employment levels in the area; Health and disability; Crime and anti-social behaviour.
One of the Canal Basin Forum’s proudest achievements is its involvement in the renovation of Water Tower Gardens, and the creation of the Community Pavilion there.
